What is a green screen?

This is achieved thanks to a technique called chroma keying.

How does a green screen work?
The basic concept involves using a large green backdrop during filming, which is later replaced with anything you can think of, using chroma keying.
For chroma keying to work, a green screen room must be flat and uniform, requiring careful lighting to ensure no shadows or detailing. Once this setup is perfected, actors or subjects can be in front of the green screen without any shadows or inconsistencies in the footage.
After capturing the green screen video or photography, it’s time for post-production! During this phase, specialized green screen software comes into play. This software pinpoints the exact green colour (chroma) within the footage and removes it, leaving the subjects without any background. From there, you have the creative freedom to add any background or visual effects you desire, and with that, success!
